Laura Ellen Draper, 95, of Atchison, KS died on Wednesday, February 21st, 2024, at the Atchison Senior Village.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024, at the First Christian Church with Rev. Brad Greene officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church annex adjacent to the sanctuary. Lunch will be served in Wolf Hall in the church basement immediately following the service. The burial of the ashes will be at the Armstrong-Case Cemetery in Atchison at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Armstrong-Case Cemetery Fund or the First Christian Church of Atchison and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer Funeral Home who is entrusted with the services. Laura was born on February 24th, 1928, in east Atchison. Laura is the daughter of Jesse and Ellen Moore of Sugar Lake east of Atchison who proceeded her in death. She graduated from Atchison High School in 1945. Laura worked at Ramseys Department Store upon graduation then attended Atchison Beauty College in Atchison. She worked as a beautician in Atchison until the family moved to Stockton MO in 1984. She was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church, a member of the Christian Women- Fellowship, and was active as a Den Mother and Cub Scout Leader.

Laura enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, traveling, going to the casino and her family pets. She was a long-time member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Club.

Laura married Carl Case Draper on March 12th, 1950, at the First Christian Church. Carl proceeded her in death in 2006.

Survivors include one daughter Diane (Paul) Briggs of Colwich, KS, and four sons Ken (Kathy) Draper of Stockton MO, Kirk (Lisa) Draper of Macks Creek MO, Craig Draper of Huntsville AR, and Dennis (Sue) Draper of Atchison KS. Laura has 13 grandchildren, Jerri (Doug) Newman, Kelli (Josh) McClintock, Jeff (Sarah) Draper, David Draper, Davis (Erin) Draper, Dustin (Michelle) Draper, Judianne Doyle, Crystal (Colton)Wright, Jennie (Ross) Fuhrman, Joanie (Sam) Sinclair, Maureen (Mike) Berry, Ian Briggs, Katie Draper. Laura has twenty-four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
