Mary Belle Peterson, 99, of Whiting, Kansas, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023 at her home, in rural Whiting, Kansas.

She was born on October 29, 1924 in Oskaloosa, Kansas the daughter of Luther and Broox Moulder Oaks. Mary Belle was a housewife and helped her husband on the family farm. On August 22, 1948 she married Glenn Peterson in Everest, Kansas.

Survivors include her; son, Ron (Joyce) Peterson of Hoyt, Kansas; three grandchildren, Jeremy (Paula) Kennedy, Ryan (Tricia) Peterson and Drew (Chelsye) Peterson; five great grandchildren, Rhett Kennedy, Makenzie Kennedy, Penny Peterson, Oscar Peterson and Asher Peterson and ex-granddaughter in law, Helen Kennedy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Glenn Peterson on February 2, 2016, daughter, Kathy Sue Kennedy and three brothers, Moulder, Boyd and Dean Oaks.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Burial will follow at the Springhill Cemetery, Whiting, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the Mary Belle Peterson memorial fund to be designated later and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
