Delbert Lee Jacobson, 83, of Willis, Kansas passed away on November 25, 2023 at Anew Healthcare in Hiawatha, Kansas. He was born on July 27, 1940 in Horton, Kansas the son of Lind and Martha Greer Jacobson.
He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Everest, Kansas where he was baptized and confirmed. Delbert graduated from Willis High School in 1959. After graduating from high school Delbert served in the Kansas Army National Guard. Delbert married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Sawyer on October 7, 1960 at the Willis Christian Church. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this past fall.
He started his 60 plus year career in trucking at a young age with his father, Lind and Uncle Oscar Jacobson. He became the owner of Delbert Jacobson Trucking and hauled livestock and grain until his retirement. Not being one to sit idle, he began working security at the Golden Eagle Casino and then as a dishwasher at the Sac & Fox Casino. He assisted his wife Bonnie with her business of Teeter Totter Antiques for 38 years. They enjoyed selling antiques and the friends they made along the way at the Sparks Flea Market and the Platte City Antique Show. He also proudly served many terms on the Willis City Council.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Jacobson of the home; three daughters, Renee (Doug) Nicholson of Columbia City, Indiana, Vicky (Tim) Sanner of Hiawatha, Kansas and Lisa Earp of Everest, Kansas; Nine grandchildren, Matt (Kori) Nicholson of Mount Vernon, Ohio, Brandon Nicholson, Courteney (Kyle) Fezi all of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Derek Nicholson of Chicago, Illinois, Brice (Lindsay) Sanner of Andover, Kansas, Jordan (Kaitlyn) Sanner of Old Colorado City, Colorado, Nick Sanner of Salida, Colorado, Zach (Keeley) Earp of Manhattan, Kansas and Ethan Earp of Everest, Kansas.
Six great-grandchildren, Leighton, Gavin and James Fezi of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Dexter and Margaux Sanner of Andover, Kansas and Everleigh Sanner of Old Colorado City, Colorado. Survivors also include a sister-in-law Charlotte Jacobson of Towanda, Kansas and many nieces and nephews.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lorene Scott and brother, Ronald Jacobson.
Visitation will be held at Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 30, 2023. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 at the Zion Lutheran Church north of Everest, Kansas at 10:30 A.M. with burial to follow at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
