Marie Morrissey

Marie Adeline (Neukirch) Morrissey was born to Paul and Anna (Kerner) Neukirch on February 26, 1938 in Tecumseh, Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary- Catholic Church in St. Mary, Nebraska. Marie attended St. Mary- Parochial School and graduated from St. Patrick- High School in Fremont, Nebraska.

Marie married Thomas L. Morrissey on August 9, 1958 at St. Mary- Catholic Church. Marie and Tom lived in Omaha while Tom attended Creighton University Law School. Tom graduated from law school in 1960 and they moved to Tecumseh, Nebraska where they spent the rest of their married life. Five children were born to this marriage, Timothy, Elizabeth, Robert, Loretta and Theodore. Robert and Loretta died at birth.

She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church. Marie was a long-time dedicated member of the St. Andrew Altar Society, member of PEO and Friends in Council. She was a great cook and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by those who knew her.

Marie passed away May 28, 2023 at the Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh, Nebraska at the age of 85 years. She is survived by her husband Thomas of Tecumseh; son Timothy and wife Linda Morrissey of Wilber, daughter Elizabeth and husband Royce Gobber of Tecumseh and son Theodore of Omaha, grandchildren, Stephanie Terry and husband Jon, Ben Beethe and wife Kristi, Abigail Stempson and husband Scott, Olivia Little and husband Aaron and Jessica, Christopher and Aaron Morrissey, great-grandchildren, Eve Beethe, Brayden Beethe, J.D. Stempson, Henry Stempson, Veronica Stempson, Evelyn Little, Liam Little and Scout Terry, sister-in-law Mary Bray and husband Jack of San Antonio, TX, brother-in-law James Roubal of Omaha and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Anna Neukirch, infant children Robert and Loretta, brothers Clemence, Alfred and wife Helen, Elmer and wife Marilyn, Leo and wife Virginia and Arthur and wife Marilyn and sister Margaret Roubal, and brother-in-law John Morrissey and wife Marjorie.

Mass of Christian Burial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2023 at the St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Father Christopher Kubat officiating.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2023 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at the St. Andrew Catholic Church, with family greeting friends from 6-7 p.m.

Memorials may go to the family- choice.

Interment will be in the St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery, rural Tecumseh, Nebraska.
