Robert Jon Morrow, age 84, of Rushville, Missouri, died Monday, March 20, 2023 at the Medicalodge of Atchison.

Funeral Service will be Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Heppler, OSB officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Benedict Catholic School or Maur Hill-Mt. Academy. The Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral care.

Jon was born on February 21, 1939, at the Atchison Hospital the son of Robert G. Morrow and Ruth Ann (Connor) Morrow. He attended St. Benedict Catholic Grade School and Maur Hill Prep. He continued his education at the Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in Tulsa, OK, where he was trained as an aviation mechanic.

He joined the United States Army right out of high school working on the airplanes and helicopters until his honorable discharge on February 9, 1961.

Jon was always fascinated with airplanes and helicopters and anything aeronautic. He began his employment as an aviation mechanic with Kansas City Flight Service (Frank Spatz) before taking a role at the TWA Overhaul Base in Kansas City where he was employed for thirty-eight years. He wrapped up his employment tenure after spending three years with American Airlines, retiring in 2003.

He had many hobbies and interests but the most important was flying his yellow J-3 Cub and spending countless hours doing aerobatics in his three planes: Starduster, Pitts and Christen Eagle. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, square-dancing, high-power rifle shooting competitions and air photography. He was a member of the St. Benedict Parish, Experimental Aircraft Association, American Legion and V.FW.

Jon married Linda Drimmel on June 3, 1967; they were divorced in 1976. He and Eula M. Lust were married on August 17, 1985, and spent thirty-seven years together; she survives of their home. He is also survived by his daughter, Lisa Marie (Jim) Welsh of Kansas City, MO; step-sons, Ed (Lynn) Lust and Darrell Lust; eight step grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Don Jerome Morrow.
