Virginia May Meints
Wherry Mortuary of Tecumseh

Virginia May Meints, 91, formerly of Tecumseh, left this earth for her heavenly home on August 13, 2022.  "Jinx", as she was fondly known as, was born to William and Antonia (Kalina) Reiman in Virginia, Nebraska on May 29, 1931.  She grew up in Virginia and Vesta, eventually settling in Tecumseh, where she spent most of her life.  In January of 2021, Virginia moved to the Good Samaritan Home in Auburn, making new friends quickly with her wonderful caregivers.

On June 11, 1947, Virginia married the love of her life, Marvin Meints, and they started their family and kept busy running grocery stores in Vesta and Tecumseh, raising dogs, and taking their kids on adventures.  Marvin preceded in death.  Virginia worked at the Campbell's Soup Company and despite being a 31 year dedicated employee, Jinx still loved fried chicken and making some of the best around.  After retiring from Campbell's, she enjoyed waitressing at the Hilltop Cafe'.  

Virginia lived a full, yet humble life and her quirky sense of humor and kind soul was enjoyed by family and friends alike.  She was a soft hearted woman who was always willing to open her home to anyone, making her a favorite of her kids' friends. Her greatest accomplishment was her family, and it one that she was very proud of, spanning an amazing 6 generations.  Virginia was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Tecumseh.

In addition to her husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, Ed and Ola Meints, sisters Dorothy Reiman and Wilma Wagner and brothers-in-law, Jim Lairmore, Noel Mark, Don Wagner and Harold Chaffee.  Left to cherish this entertaining woman are her seven children: Brad (Linda) Meints of Cameron, MO, Lance (Mary) Meints of Tecumseh, Rhett (Carla) Meints of Tecumseh, Marla Simecek (Dan) Winston, MO, Kim (Ida) Meints of Old Forge, PA, Tracy Wolken (Mike) of Tecumseh and Kellee Kean (Jon) of Salem, sister Fran Chaffee of Lincoln, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, a great-great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.  

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2022 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Rev. Hugh Giesbrecht officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow at the First Baptist Church Activity Center.  

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2022 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska.

Memorials may go to the family’s choice.

Private family inurnment will be in the Vesta Cemetery, rural Tecumseh, Nebraska. Wherry Mortuary, Tecumseh, is in charge of arrangements.
