William " Willie" Blacksmith

William Allen “Willie” Blacksmith, 35, of Horton, KS died Sunday morning, July 17, 2022.

He was born February 27, 1987 in Holton, KS the son of Gary Blacksmith. Willie attended Kickapoo Nation schools and graduated from Horton High School with the Class of 2005.

Willie worked various jobs in the local communities throughout his life.

Willie was athletic and good at sports. He especially loved football. Any chance he could, Willie was enjoying the outdoors. He spent countless hours with his father, Gary, hunting and fishing. They had a unique bond. Many will tell you he was ornery as heck, hard headed, stubborn, big hearted, and a teddy bear. When Willie was around, you didn’t feel left out. He involved everyone. He was so proud of and lived for his kids. He will be forever remembered with that contagious smile and as a Protector of his family and friends.

He is survived by his father; Gary Blacksmith, sisters; Jessi Blacksmith and Rachelle Blacksmith, all of Horton, KS. Daughters; Ayiana Blacksmith-Juarez of Fairview, KS, Sydney Blacksmith of Platte City, MO and Brooke Blacksmith of Platte City, MO, sons; Maddix Blacksmith of Onaga, KS, and Landon Blacksmith of Omaha, NE, nieces and nephews; Dominique, Braven, Lily, Chenoa, Chanelle, Rainer, Harley, Brighten, and Hudson; aunts; Janet “Nana” Negonsott and Terri Blacksmith and numerous cousins. Willie never wanted to leave anyone out. Everyone that he knew was family to him.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, William Blacksmith Jr. and his grandparents; Mary Ann Blacksmith-Negonsott and Harmon Blacksmith.

A private service will be held for immediate family only at a private residence. Burial will be at the Negonsott Cemetery Friday morning. All family and friends are welcome to attend.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening, July 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary, in Horton.
