Leroy E. Linck, 90, of Horton, Kansas passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022 at Stormont Vail Hospital following a day of fellowship with his family. Born July 16, 1931 in Phoenix, Arizona, Leroy was one of the many children of Charles and Grace (Miller) Linck. A farm boy from a large Catholic family, Leroy learned his faith, his love for all thing’s family, and his many practical skills for life, all of which he carried through until his last moments. As a young man, he met Dorothy Erpelding at a CYO dance, where began his lifelong love for the woman who he married and raised children with. Later in life, he would visit Dorothy as much as time would allow and was known to sit with her on most days, play BINGO, and chat with her new peers and nursing staff. Along with farming, Leroy worked at Rockwell International of Atchison for over 30 years as an electrician until his retirement. Just like all of his brothers, Leroy served our country and served nine years in the National Guard. Leroy was an active and devout member of St. Leo's Catholic Church of Horton and volunteered for many years in the annual Living Nativity, and attended mass faithfully beyond his 90th birthday. He was a member of the local Knights of Columbus and helped raised money for the Tootsie Roll drive. As a father, he helped with Boy Scout leadership and attended many camping trips, including trips to Camp Geiger of the Pony Express Council. He was eventually inducted into the Tribe of Mic-O-Say as an Honorary Warrior with the name Big Slender Crow. He took joy in watching his sons and grandson all excel in Scouts and go on to earn their Eagle Awards. Leroy could often be seen visiting Camp Geiger and re-living those memories during summer camping sessions. Leroy was a strong believer in family who raised 4 children with Dorothy. He was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoyed keeping tabs on everyone's activities, and often put his skills to use as a general contractor for his ever-grateful kin, working for fun and the occasional gooseberry pie. He had an ornery smile and liked to tease everyone, especially his children and grand-children, and he never shied away from a bear hug. Leroy was often asked to provide the blessing before family meals and often gave the traditional Catholic blessing as well as a quick warning for the tummy. All who met him knew his generosity, his kindness, and his faith. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Linck who resides at Mission Village Living Center in Horton KS; his children Catherine Spare of Hiawatha KS, Keith (Flavia) Linck of Hiawatha KS, Karen Rabe of Topeka KS, and Kenneth Linck of Flagstaff AZ; grandchildren Belinda (Jason) Estes of Hiawatha KS, Michelle (Nicholas) Kieffer of Wichita KS, Scott Spare (Kristin Clark) of Hiawatha KS,  Ashley Rabe (Sean Garrison) of Topeka KS, Nathaniel (Isabella) Klaus of Bend OR, Mykala (Karly) Rabe of Topeka KS, Christian Rabe of Topeka KS, Reid Linck of Flagstaff AZ, Henry Linck of Flagstaff AZ; 13 great-grandchildren in Hiawatha, Wichita, and Topeka KS, his brother Glen Linck of Everest KS, his sister Charlotte Reed of Carbondale KS, and his sister-in-law Shirley Linck of …… CA, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. His family blessings were many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Grace Linck, five brothers-Charles Jr., Bernard, Dennis, Lawrence, and his twin brother Leo Linck, and their sister Grace Leitch, his son-in-law Steve Spare, and his grandson, Steven Gaston. A Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Horton, KS with the funeral mass to follow at 10:30 am on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.
