Mary Lou Stous, 87, of Holton, KS, passed away, Friday, May 20, 2022 at The Pines South, with family by her side. She was born March 23, 1935 in Holton, KS, the daughter of Norman and Helen Bohnenkemper.

Mary Lou graduated from Holton High School in 1952. She was a Bookkeeping Machine Operator for the State of Kansas and worked for Slimaker Dress Factory in Holton. Mary Lou was also a clerk for Jackson County Register of Deeds, School Lunch Cook for USD 336 and in retirement, she worked for Mercer Funeral Home.

Mary Lou was a member of the Evangel United Methodist Church and a member of King’s Daughters Sunday School at the church. She was a former member of Rebekah Lodge-serving as Nobel Grand. Along with her husband, Marvin, she belonged to the Mustang Camping Club.

She married Marvin D. Stous on October 17, 1954 at the Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton, KS. They celebrated over 67 years of marriage.

Survivors include her husband, Marvin; 2 daughters, Carol Kappelman of Kansas City, KS and Janet Fernkopf (Kyle) of Circleville, KS; son, Roger Stous (Vickie) of Kansas City, MO and 4 grandchildren, Chris Kappelman, Lena Fernkopf (fiancé, Cory Craver), Alex Rabideaux and Gage Rabideaux.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Helen Bohnenkemper; a son, Paul Marvin Stous; brother, Carl Bohnenkemper and a son-in-law, Lawrence “Larry” Kappelman.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow at the Holton Cemetery.
