Virginia Farrar
Leawood, KS

Virginia L. Farrar, 81, Leawood, KS died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2021 in Hiawatha, KS.  A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Fri. Dec. 10 at Christ Church Anglican, Overland Park, KS.  A reception follows the service at the church.  The service will also be live streamed and can be viewed using the link, https://vimeo.com/event/1601463.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Christ Church Endowment Trust, the NEK Multi County Hospice, or charitable organization of your choice.  

Mrs. Farrar was born on May 31, 1940, in Coffeyville, KS and spent most of her life in the Kansas City area.  She attended Shawnee Mission High School and graduated from the School of Education at the Univ. of Kansas where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority.  Upon graduation, she taught at Roesland Elem. School, raised her children, and operated her family farm.  She was active in her alumni association serving in several capacities, including Chairperson of the Gamma Phi Beta Garden and Antique Show.  In addition, as a 51 year member of Christ Church she was involved in mission work in Honduras and New Orleans, and served on the Church Vestry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Landon B. and Florence M. Cheal.  Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Guy E. Farrar, her son Jeffrey (Rebecca) Farrar of Robinson, KS, her daughter Amy (Steve) Osborn, her grandchildren Landon (Taylor) Farrar, Hannah, Tessa, Jack (Kelly) Osborn, and her great granddaughter Lilah Osborn.  The family wishes to recognize and thank the staff of Maple Heights Nursing and Rehab Center and NEK Multi County Hospice, of Hiawatha, KS for the compassionate care they provided to Mrs. Farrar.
