HOLTON – Gerald M. Lierz, 89, died Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

He was born December 1, 1931 at Seneca, the son of Leo and Bertha Bergman Lierz.  He had served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954.

Gerald was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton.

He worked at Goodyear Tire in Topeka for thirty years, retiring in 1989.  He also raised cattle.

Gerald’s greatest attribute was his pride and loving devotion to his family, friends and the farm way of life.

Gerald married Ethel Brokamp on February 25, 1957 at St. Bedes Catholic Church in Kelly.  She survives, of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Elmer Lierz, Lester Lierz and Verness Lierz, and two sisters, Cleta Mae Hammes and Marceil Rottinghaus.

Other survivors include one daughter, Colleen (Russ) Hill, Round Rock, TX; two sons, Tim (Stacie) Lierz and Doug (Donna) Lierz, all of Topeka; one sister, Eileen Sudbeck, Seneca; six grandchildren, Angie, Matt, Mallory, Dalton, Dylan, and Caedyn and five great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 13th at St. Dominic Catholic Church.  Burial with military honors will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Holton.  Gerald will lie in state after 9:00 a.m. Friday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton, where a Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m., followed by visitation until 8:30.  Please wear a mask at the services.  Memorials are suggested to St. Dominic Catholic Church, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 1034, Holton, KS  66436.
