Norma Murphy

 Norma Kay Murphy, 82, of Hardtner, KS, formerly of Hoyt, KS, passed away March 5, 2021 at her son’s home in Hardtner. She was born December 2, 1938 in Soldier, KS, the daughter of Alva William and Elsie M. (Rutledge) Neal.

 Norma graduated from Soldier High School. She made her home in Hoyt, KS, she was a homemaker, farmwife and later a daycare provider.

 She was a member of Hoyt United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

Norma married William W. “Jeff” Murphy on May 17, 1957. They celebrated over 42 years of marriage; Jeff passed away October 26, 1999. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Mitchell Murphy and 2 sisters, Nadine Wheeler and Roberta Vogel.

Survivors include 2 sons, Patrick Murphy (Cynthia) of Hoyt, KS and Matthew Murphy (Tammy) of Hardtner, KS; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2021 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow at the Soldier Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Hoyt United Methodist Church and sent in care of the Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
