Helen B. Koelzer, 91, of Onaga, died Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the Onaga Health and Rehabilitation Facility in Onaga.

She was born October 11, 1929 in Rose Bud, Arkansas, the daughter of Vernon and Faye Benton Thacker.  She graduated from Rose Bud High School.

Helen was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Onaga.

She had been the social work designee at St. Marys Manor in St. Marys.

She married Nash Guardiola.  He died March 31, 1991.  She later married Francis Koelzer on July 17, 1999.  He survives.

Helen was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Charles Guardiola, who died January 19, 2013, and a brother, Sam Thacker.

Other survivors include her children, Calvin Covington (Dorothy), St. Marys, Richard Guardiola (Debbie), Wichita, Sandy Erickson (Ray), St. Marys, Renee Vandevelde (Rick) and Varo Guardiola (Sandy), all of Topeka and Dr. Espe Guardiola, Onaga; two step-sons, James Koelzer (Debbie), Centralia and Eugene Koelzer (Colleen), Firth, NE; three step-daughters, Marianne Murphy (Mike), Lincoln, NE, Frances Zessin (Greg), Malcolm, NE and Dorothy Fisher (John), Havensville, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 5th at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Onaga.  The funeral will be live streamed at the church Facebook page, St. Vincent de Paul, Onaga, KS.  Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery at Emmett.  Helen will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga.  Visitation will be at the church Friday morning from 8:30 to 9:30, with a Rosary to be prayed at 9:30.  Please wear a mask at the services.  Memorials are suggested to Masses for Francis and Helen and their family, and for the poor souls in purgatory, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 312, Onaga, KS  66521.  On-line condolences may be made at chapeloaksfuneralhome.com
