William Fredrick “Fred” Johnson

William Fredrick “Fred” Johnson, 71, of Mayetta, KS, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. He was born May 13, 1948 in Holton, KS, the son of James Edward and Zola Marie (Hewitt) Johnson.

          Fred graduated from Mayetta High School in 1966. He worked for Thompson Implement in Holton, he was a custodian for Royal Valley Middle School, PTMW in Meriden and retired in 2010 from Prairie Band Casino as Supervisor of the Count Team. He was also a farmer and stockman.

          He was a former member of the Cutting Horse Club in Mayetta. Fred was an avid fisherman and hunter.  He also enjoyed gardening.

          Fred married Deborah Lee Seigler on September 14, 1968 in Holton. They celebrated over 50 years of marriage.

          Survivors include his wife Debbie of the home; 2 sons, Edward Johnson (Teri) of Mayetta, KS and Dennis Johnson (Hannah) of Mayetta, KS; a daughter, Jamie Johnson-Shaffer (Eric) of Mayetta, KS; a sister, Judith “Judy” Bone (Bob) of Topeka, KS; 5 grandchildren, Layne Johnson, Kaileigh Gray-Milligan, Hunter Johnson, Jace Johnson and Jarret Johnson and a great-granddaughter, Brynleigh McClane.

          Memorial graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at the Mayetta Cemetery.  Memorials may be given to the Fred Johnson Memorial Fund c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
