Jimmy Don Entrikin, 70, of Horton, Kansas, passed away suddenly on April 23, 2017 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Jim was born on September 12, 1946 in Potter, Kansas the son of Wilbur and Pat Fowler Entrikin. Jim graduated from Everest High School in 1966, he then joined the United States Naval Service in May of the same year. After completing a four year tour of duty with another two years in the Naval Reserves, he then joined the Kansas Army National Guard stationed in Horton, Kansas. Jim retired from active duty from the 2nd Battalion 130th Field Artillery Unit in Hiawatha, KS with 20+ years total active duty service in 1999.

After “retiring” Jim held numerous part time jobs including USD #430 bus driver and custodian before completely retiring in June of 2016. He was a faithful and active member of the Horton First United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and served in various capacities on several church committees.

Jim married Dorothea Wakefield on May 28, 1967 in Everest, KS. They have three children Jackie (and Mark) Milroy of Hiawatha, KS; Alan Entrikin of Reading, KS; and Dennis Entrikin of Hiawatha, KS. Jim is also survived by grandkids: Lisa (and James) Blanton, Nick Milroy, Nikki Entrikin, Darrin Walter, Samantha (and Chris) Gray, Drew (and Sara) Entrikin, Autumn Esher, William Entrikin, Tonya Esher, Ryker Entrikin, Becca Entrikin, Miclan, Emma, and Phoenix Entrikin; and 6 great grandkids: Blayz, Frankie, Jayden, Natalie, Anakin, and Warren. Surviving siblings: Byron (and Mary Jane) Frank of Elkhorn, NE; Leroy Entrikin of Hiawatha, KS; Roger (and Eileen) Entrikin of Junction City, KS; Robert Entrikin of Atchison, KS; Nedra Sellens of Lansing, KS; Dora (and Bruce) Miller of Everest, KS; and John Entrikin of Atchison, KS. There are also numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Wilbur and Pat Entrikin; sister-in-law Erika Entrikin; and nephew Martin Entrikin.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, April 28, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Horton, Kansas. The family will greet friends on Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Ks. Burial with Military graveside rites will be at the Horton Cemetery.
