Darlene Abramson

Darlene Ann (Richard) Abramson, 83, of Aurora, CO, formerly of Netawaka, KS passed away April 7, 2016 in Aurora. She was born September 6, 1932 in Netawaka, KS the daughter of George “Jack” and Dorothy (Bennaka) Richard.

Darlene graduated from Whiting High School in 1950. She had lived over 50 years in Aurora, CO and had previously lived in Netawaka, Horton, Arrington and Holton. She was a homemaker. She also was a Salvation Army Store manager in Colorado and a sales representative for a Colorado artist. Darlene had been her parent’s care-giver for many years.

She married Orville G. Abramson in May 21, 1950 in Goff, KS. He preceded her in death on December 24, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Dorothy Richard; and a sister-in-law, Karen Shell.

Survivors include 2 sons, Steven Abramson (Sandra) of Aurora, CO and Randall Abramson (Joan) of Helena, MT; a daughter, Deborah Poor (Donald) of Aurora, CO; 2 sisters, Patsy Bell (Roy) of Seneca, KS and Nancy LaFond (Larry) of Haven, KS; a brother, James Richard (Donna) of Overland Park, KS; 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Memorial Service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Inurnment will follow in the Netawaka Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 at the funeral home.
