Stephen Edward Mauzey, 70, Overland Park, KS, formerly of Nortonville, KS, passed away, Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, KS.  

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, May 23, 2016 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, with Rev. Rick Twenhafel, officiating.  Friends are welcome to visit with the family following the Memorial Service on Monday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions in honor and memory of Steve are suggested to the American Cancer Society and may be sent in care of the funeral home.   Words of comfort and remembrance may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com.

Steve was born September 21, 1945, in Leavenworth, KS, the son of Kenneth and Helen (Yoakum) Mauzey.  Steve graduated from Nortonville High School, attended Kansas State University from 1963-1966 and the University of Texas from 1966-1969, where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Pharmacy.  Following graduation, Steve served in the US Army from 1969-1971 in the Medical Corps stationed in Alaska.  Steve was a licensed Pharmacist in Kansas, Missouri and Nevada.   He worked for a number of years as a Pharmacist at Pamida in Atchison and for the Dwight D. Eisenhower Veterans Administration Medical Center (Leavenworth) in the Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy.  Steve was a member of the American Legion Post 370 in Overland Park, KS.  Steve enjoyed basketball, golf, gardening, photography and music.  Steve played the trumpet in band throughout high school and college, and continued playing in bands after his formal education was completed.  Steve was also very devoted to his family.  Steve always attended activities that his kids and grandkids were involved in.  He was at music concerts, dance recitals, sporting events, programs, school activities and just everyday things like trips to the zoo or coming over to play with his grandchildren.  Holidays were also a special time that Steve looked forward to spending with his kids and grandkids.

Steve and Lanell George were married on March 11, 1972.  They later divorced but always remained good friends.   

Survivors include two daughters, Arlene (Cody) Noll, Nortonville, and Ginger (Damon) Enright, Liberty, MO; four grandchildren, Bronwynn Enright, Jaden Enright, Brendon Enright and Tristen Noll.
