John Coonce, 73, of Rulo, NE, passed away November 15, 2015 at Lincoln. His funeral will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.

PARENTS:  the late Noah and Mary (Stienauer) Coonce

MILITARY: He enlisted in the U. S. Army and received an honorable discharge

MARRIAGE:  On November 6, 1964 he married Edna Davolt at Hiawatha, KS

LIFE HISTORY:

John was raised at Rulo and attended school at Rulo until the eighth grade. He graduated Reserve High School in 1961. Following graduation he became employed at Falls City Creamery and then worked at Frontier Homes. He also helped farmers around the Rulo area. He became employed by the City of Falls City and worked at the water treatment plant retiring in 1999 as the manager.

He was Mayor of Rulo for many years and also served as a volunteer Fire Chief and Rulo Cemetery caretaker for many years.

He was an avid deer hunter and bingo player.

Grandchildren: Kraig Coonce, Jami Coonce, Bailey Coonce, Taylor Coonce and Jesse Coonce

PRECEDED IN DEATH BY:  by his parents, brothers, James, Robert, Ronald and Kenneth, sisters, Lula Hall, Bev Simpson, Ramona Eckley and Maxine Dannecker.

FUNERAL SERVICES:  will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Pastor David Showalter officiating. Interment will be in Rulo Cemetery. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.
