Elizabeth " Betty" Harris

Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Harris, 93, of Topeka, Kansas formerly of Horton, Kansas passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the Presbyterian Manor in Topeka, Kansas.

She was born on May 10, 1922 in Horton, Kansas the daughter of Frank and Irene Agnell Lednicky. Betty graduated from the Mount Saint Scholastic Academy High School and College in Atchison, Kansas receiving her bachelor's degree. On May 14, 1947 she married Richard Harris at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Purcell, Kansas. He preceded her in death on October 9, 2003. Betty was a Medical Technologist, ASCP, for the Horton Medical Clinic for over 47 years. She was a member of the St. Leo's Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Betty was an avid volunteer for various organizations in the community and was a longtime volunteer for the Benedictine Convent library.

Survivors include a son, Richard Lynn (Linda) Harris of Lander, Wyoming; four daughters, Janice (Dick) Davis of Osage City, Kansas, Cheryl (Larry) Jacobs of Emporia, Kansas, Connie (Bill) Hartley of Valley Falls, Kansas and Karen Daily of Horton, Kansas; sister, Mary Frances McIntyre of Michigan; sister-in-law, Mary Alyce Lednicky of Everest, Kansas; four granddaughters and nine great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Lednicky.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at the St. Leo's Catholic Church in Horton, Kansas. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday evening at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends following the Rosary. Burial will be at the St. Leo's Catholic Cemetery, Horton, Kansas. Memorials may made to the Benedictine Sister's at Mount Saint Scholastic and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
