Karla Grau

Karla Grau, 59, passed away Friday morning August 14, 2015, at her home in Mayetta. 

She was born November 24, 1955, in Holton the daughter of Elmer John and Ada Marie (Boyce)Winters. She graduated from Holton High School and later Topeka Barber School.  She then obtained her Associates Degree from Topeka Technical College.  Karla was a barber, was a supervisor for the Kansas Department of Revenue, was a tax auditor and also owned and operated Karla’s Barber & Style Shop. 

On June 15, 1980 she married James Alan Grau in Las Vegas, Nevada.  He preceded her in death on October 3, 2007. 

Karla enjoyed Bowling and was on the Holton Bowling League.  She also liked playing cards, bingo and Scrabble.

She is survived by: her son, Shane Grau (Angie) of Topeka, KS; her daughter, Shelby Grau (Brett James) of Tecumseh, KS; her sister, Denise Streit of Holton, KS; her brother Butch Winters of Topeka, KS; and her 3 granddaughters, Mara & Lorelai Grau-James and Charlotte Grau.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.  Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka. The family will greet friends Monday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to Scleroderma Foundation Inc. and contributions may be left in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
