Sterling Kottich, 90, of Falls City, NE, passed away July 26, 2015 at Falls City. He was born December 25, 1924 at Rulo, NE to the late Walter and Emma (Scheitel) Kottich.

On February 16, 1947 he married Laura Zimmerman at Zion United Church of Christ, northeast of Falls City.

Sterling graduated Falls City High School in 1941and was the first Future Farmers of America President. He farmed his entire life in Richardson County. He coached Peewee baseball for 25 years, had a hat collection with 2,700 hats, he traveled to Poland to deliver horses during the war in 1945. He was a square dancer, volunteer school crossing guard and drove a bus for Falls City Public Schools. He donated over 20 gallons of blood to the Red Cross blood drives though out the years. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Falls City Elks Lodge, Toast Masters, Rural Water Board and County Weed Board.

Sterling is survived by his wife, Laura of Falls City, sons, Douglas and his wife Dianna of Falls City, David and his wife Deborah of Elm Creek, NE, Stan and his wife Jeanne of Seward, NE, daughters, Nancy Demmel and her husband Bruce of Falls City, Janice Korthanke and her husband Richard of Hiawatha, KS, eighteen grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Walter and Virgil, infant daughter at birth, great-grandchildren, Bett and Joy Siyajuck.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Zion United Church of Christ with Reverend Paul Weinert officiating. Interment will be in the church’s cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
