Florence H. Arnold, 99, of Falls City, NE, passed away July 25, 2015 at Falls City. She was born July 26, 1916 northeast of Falls City to the late George and Bertha (Kammerer) Duerfeldt.

On April 19, 1947 she married F. Norman Arnold at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, northeast of Falls City. He passed away November 28, 2002.

Florence attended Cottier School District 21 until the family moved to Barada when she was in the 3rd grade. She graduated from 10th grade at Barada High School in 1932 and continued her education at Falls City High School until graduation in 1934. After attending college for one term she began teaching and taught school for 32 years. She taught in rural school districts of Richard County and also taught in Humboldt, Falls City, Stella, NE as well as Reserve, Hamlin and Hiawatha, KS. By attending summer school and taking night courses she earned her degree the same spring their oldest daughter graduated from 8th grade. She retired from teaching in 1976. When married the couple established their home in rural Falls City. She was a member if Barada United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School, was treasurer and church historian, Retired Teacher’s Association, Shubert American Legion Auxiliary, DAV Chapter 43 of Falls City.

Florence is survived by her sons, Wayne and his wife Lydia of Lincoln, NE, Ralph of Falls City, daughters, Carol Ann Aleson and her husband Dennis of Colorado Springs, CO, Ruth Joy and her husband Kirby of Dunbar, NE, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister, Juliamae Dunn.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Aleson officiating. Interment will be in Harris Cemetery.

Open visitation and viewing will begin on Monday afternoon.
