Alan Richard

Alan Richard was born May 26, 1945, in Humboldt, Nebraska, while his father was serving overseas in World War II.  He was the son of Hartley and Lillian (Stalder) Richard. He died July 24, 2015, in Omaha, Nebraska after complications from heart valve replacement surgery.

Alan graduated from Humboldt High School in 1963 and attended Peru State College. He married Martha Kay Bock March 25, 1965, at Frieden’s Church in Bern, Kansas. Alan and Martie were the proud parents of two sons, Joseph Alan and Jon Alan.

Alan pursued a career in the gas service industry and ranching.  After moving to a ranch near Pawnee City, he was very active in local and regional civic groups. 

Alan is survived by his wife of 50 years, Martie, sons Joe (Shelley) Richard of Omaha, Nebraska and Jon (Tina) Richard of Ames, Iowa, grandchildren Bradley, Brianna, Taylor and Cole Richard, sister Barbara (Ron) Easley of Papillion, Nebraska, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held at Wherry Mortuary in Pawnee City, Nebraska on Thursday, July 30th from 9:00 a.m. to 8 p.m with family greeting friends from  6:00 to 8:00 pm, at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G street, Pawnee City, Nebraska.   A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 31st at the DuBois Community Hall in DuBois, Nebraska at 10:30 am. Officiating Joe Nelson.  Inurnment at a later dat at the Du Bois Cemetery, Du Bois, Nebraska.   Memorials will be used to establish a scholarship in Alan’s name to be put toward a trade school degree.
