Viona Bessie (Gray) Buman, 93 of Pawnee City, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at her home.  She was born on a farm near Palmyria, Nebraska on October 21, 1921, to Thomas G. and Bernice (Doak) Gray.

Viona attended and graduated from Pawnee City High School in 1938. 

She married Leonard J. Buman on Easter Sunday, 1939 at the Pawnee City Methodist Church.  They lived in Aurora, Colorado for 19 years with their children, Gayle W. Buman and Sahrilyn K. (Buman) Karjala until Leonards health had them return to Pawnee City.

She was a longtime member of several organizations, 65 years of Order of the Eastern Star, 38 years of the American Legion Auxiliary and a 35 year member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Also a life time  member of United Methodist Church in Pawnee City.

She was preceded in death by Leonard J. Buman, parents, Thomas G. and Bernice (Doak) Gray, brothers, Quentin E. Gray, Owen L. Gray and his wife Juanita, son-in-law, Arthur E. Karjala.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharilyn K. Karjala of Pawnee CIty, NE, son, Gayle W. Buman and wife Patricia from Johnstown, CO, grandchildren, Scott E. Karjala and wife Juliette, Todd Buman and friend Kristi, Justin Buman and wife Beth, great grandchildren, Garrett Buman, Austin Buman, Jordan Buman and Michelle Tan, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Pawnee City, Nebraska. Officiating Reverend Sherry Sklenar.  Visitation on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 from 9 a.m.-8 p.m., at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska.  Interment at the Pawnee City Cemetery, Pawnee City, Nebraska.  Memorials to the United Methodist Church, Pawnee City, Nebraska or O.E.S.
