Wayne E. Dodd, Sr., 72, of Holton passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015 due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident north of Nortonville, KS.

He was born July 10, 1942 in Tampa, FL the son of James E. and Martha E. (Moat) Dodd.  After graduating from Provine High School in Jackson, MS he attended Barber College in Pensacola, FL. He later became an instructor at Roffler Barber School in Pensacola. 

Wayne proudly served his country with the United States Air Force in Vietnam.  He was a member of the Holton VFW and American Legion.

On June 8, 2012 Wayne married Georgina L. “Gigi” Gibson in Holton.  She survives of the home. He is also survived by: his children, Wayne E. Dodd, Jr. of Mineola, TX, Jimmy D. Dodd of Milton, FL, Kristina L. Grimes (Elton) of Madison, AL, Shannon N. Dodd (Calvin) of DeSoto, KS, Shelly M. Dodd of Albuquerque, NM, Tiara N. Dodd of Holton, KS, and Michelle Stierwalt (Derrick), Mitchell McCrory and Mindy McCrory (Frederick) all of Holton, KS; his daughter-in-law, Nellie Olivas; his sister, Judy Dodd Trebony Palmer of Savannah, GA; his brother, Rickey Dodd, Silver Creek, GA; his 27 grandchildren, Jonathon, Timothy, Christopher, Brittney, Patrick, Savanna, Joseph, Brandon, Keyvin, Kalvia, Dominick, Candee, Bryson, Bradley, Emily, Anthony, Austin, Tiffany, Joseph, Gavin, Maliya, Skye, Caleb, Juan Jr., Tisha,  Nickolas and Dekota and 1 great-grandson, Landon.

Wayne was preceded in death by a brother James Dodd in 1965 and a son Michael “Mike” McCrory in 2012.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2015 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.  Military Honors will be presented following services at Holton Cemetery.  Wayne will lie in state Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials are made in Wayne’s name for the VFW Flag Fund or Gigi’s Medical Expense Fund.
