B. Maxine McGuire

B. Maxine McGuire, aged 93, of Sabetha passed away peacefully at the Sabetha Community Hospital on Tuesday, June 16, 2015.

Maxine was born on April 14, 1922 at Oneida, Kansas the daughter of Wesley and Bertha (Kyle) Noble. She was baptized in the Oneida Methodist Church. Maxine attended the Oneida Grade School and Oneida High School and graduated in 1940.   

Maxine was united in marriage to Kenneth McGuire on August 23, 1940. Five sons were born to this union. Kenneth and Maxine ran a café in Morrill, Kansas, and farmed all of their married life. In 1962, they began doing custom combining for over 11 years. They started in Seymour, Texas, and ended in Minot, North Dakota. They also lived in other communities such as Hiawatha and Sabetha. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1990.

Maxine worked at the Buzz Café, Nemaha County Home Health & Hospice, and the West Village of the Apostolic Christian Home.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth McGuire; a son, Galen Kenneth McGuire; three brothers, Lester Noble, Everett Noble, and Don Noble; one sister, Katherine Rokey; one grandson, James Douglas McGuire; twin great grandsons, Levi and Chance Lowdermilk. She is survived by four sons, Ron McGuire of Lynch, Nebraska, Robert McGuire of Herington, Kansas, James McGuire and Dennis McGuire both of Sabetha, Kansas; and 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. 

Funeral service will be held Friday, June 19, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time. Interment will be made in the Morrill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be left to a charity yet to be designated, sent in care of the funeral home, 823 Virginia, Sabetha, KS 66534.
