Bernice M. Power, 79, of Auburn, NE (formerly of Dawson, NE), passed away May 3, 2015 at Auburn. She was born December 28, 1935 at Butte, NE to the late Sylvester and Dorothea (Vogt) Weber.

Bernice enlisted in the U. S. Army on November 10, 1955 at Omaha, NE. She served in communications. She was honorably discharged February 12, 1957 at Ft. Meade, MD.

On June 1, 1956 she married Richard Wiles at Hagerstown, MD, they divorced in 1971. She married John Powers on April 8, 1972 at Dawson, NE. He passed away on March 29, 1997.

Bernice was raised at Shubert, NE and graduated from Shubert High School in 1954. She attended Business College in Omaha for a year before enlisting the U. S. Army. Following her discharged she worked and lived in various places due to her first husband’s military service and then moving back to Richardson County following her divorce in 1971. When she married Mr. Powers they made their home in Dawson. She worked in retail and as a secretary and receptionist, and also a switch board operator. She then became employed by the Falls City Housing Authority at Eastview. She then was a CNA/CMA at Colonial Acres at Humboldt, retiring in 2006 and moving to Auburn in 2007. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Neighbors to Neighbors both in Auburn, St. Mary’s Altar Society at Dawson and had served as president. She served on the Village of Dawson Board as a member and Chairman.

Bernice is survived by her sons, Timothy Wiles and his wife Jodi of Greenwood, MO, Michael Wiles and his wife Sharon of Auburn, NE, John “Bump” Sylvester Power of Dawson, daughter, Starlyn Ramsey and her husband Dan of Dawson, brother, Don Weber and his wife Sue of Camden, MO, sister, Joan Hays and Karen Strasheim both of Springfield, NE, Betty Schulenberg of Preston, NE, Patricia Poppert and her husband Kirby of Lincoln, NE, fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Vernon, Dwayne and Gerald Weber.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 2:00 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Dawson, NE, with Father Michael McCabe as the presiding priest. Interment will be in Falls City Catholic Cemetery. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.

A Parish Rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 7:00 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the rosary.
