Kathleen Mae (Lewis) Bone, 95, of Mayetta, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.

She was born April 3, 1919 in Circleville, the daughter of Zelie N. and Cora (Friend) Lewis.  She grew up in Holton and graduated from Holton High School in 1937.  She worked in the Trailways Bus Depot-Café and then in the medical offices of Drs. Roy and Ernest Moser on the east side of the square and later in the old Holton Hospital for 3 ½ years.  On August 23, 1941 Kathleen married Richard J. Bone in Olathe, Kansas.  He preceded her in death on December 10, 1985.

Richard and Kathleen made their home in Mayetta for 50 years.  After Richard passed she moved to Hoyt.  She was a member of the Mayetta Christian Church where she served as a teacher and the church treasurer for several years. She worked for School District 337 in the food service for 30 years.  She belonged to the Holton Hospital Auxillary, several genealogy societies and was a charter member of the Jackson County Historical Society. Kathleen enjoyed attending a Coffee Club in Mayetta and the monthly meetings of the Hoyt and Mayetta Senior Citizens.  She also enjoyed doing genealogy research for her family, studying history, reading, crocheting, KU Basketball and KC Royals.

She is survived by: her daughter, Nancy Johnson of Topeka, KS; her sons, Richard “Dick” Bone (Patty), Robert Bone (Judy) and Ronald Bone (Linda) all of Mayetta, KS; her 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.  In addition to her husband, Kathleen was also preceded in death by son, Gerald Bone, her brothers, Lloyd and Nelse Lewis and her sisters, Opal Knibbs, Claridel Deeter and Ruth Corbit.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.  Burial will follow in Holton Cemetery.  Kathleen will lie in state beginning Thursday afternoon. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services on Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m.  Memorials are suggested to Jackson county Historical Society and may be left in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
