Steven Douglas Weigel, 52, of Rushville MO died Monday, January 5th,  2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, MO.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Friday, January 9th, 2015 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Hoover officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Rushville, MO.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:30 PM on Thursday, January 8th, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Steven was born on May 29th, 1962 in St. Joseph, MO. He is the son of Vern Weigel and Joyce & Kenneth Rains. He graduated from West Platte High School in 1980.  Mr. Weigel was a farmer who had a passion for the land and its care.  Steven was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.  Mr. Weigel was active in many community activities including the Bean Lake Levee Association, the Sugar Creek Levee Association and served as President of the Levee Drainage District #1.. He was also member of the Rushville Masonic Lodge.

Steven was married to Kimberly Burkart on May 25, 1984 in Atchison Kansas. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include a son, Luke, his wife Brandy, and their son Jase Weigel, Rushville, MO., a daughter, Blair Weigel, North Chicago, IL, father, Vern Weigel, Camden Point, MO., mother and step father, Joyce & Kenneth Rains, Rushville, MO., two brothers, Darren Weigel, DeKalb, MO., and Brad Rains, San Antonio, TX.
