Judith A. “Judy” McRae, 78, Atchison, Kansas died Monday January 5, 2015 at her residence.

Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Church with Abbot Barnabas, OSB as celebrant. The body will be cremated following these services with burial of the cremated ashes at a later date in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A parish rosary will be recited on Friday, January 9th at 6:30 P.M. at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:00 P.M. Memorial contributions are suggested to Kansas Alzheimer’s Foundation or St. Benedict School Endowment and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Judy was born January 22, 1936 to Robert and Eva Smith. She graduated from Atchison High in 1954 and attended nursing school prior to her marriage to Robert N. McRae on September 3, 1956.

Judy worked in the medical field for over twenty years all in Atchison. She enjoyed her family life with her children and grandchildren. Later in life after the passing of her husband Robert, she enjoyed traveling with her family outside of Atchison. Her travels took her to Ireland with her sisters and brother-in-law’s in the spring of 2001. It was a dream trip for her and she had wished she had traveled more. Judy was a devoted member of the St. Joseph Church where she gave of her time.

Judy is survived by her two sisters Bobbie Wagner of Atchison, and Sandra Haverty of Clearwater, Florida, and her children Rob (Jeannie) McRae of Parker, Colorado; David (Connie) McRae of Atchison, Ann McRae of Atchison, Pat McRae of Atchison, Megan (Tom) Warren of Atchison, and Libbi (late Greg) Arnold of Atchison. She is survived by her five grandchildren: Greg (Hilary) Arnold, Brent Arnold, Haliee McRae, Micah Warren, Molly Warren and a great granddaughter Gwen Arnold.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband Robert, a grandson Travis Arnold, son-in-law Greg Arnold, and her brother Dan Smith.
