Robert Derrell McCulley, Sr.

Robert Derrell McCulley, Sr., 89, of Holton, KS passed away December 29, 2014 at Medicalodge Jackson County. He was born May 15, 1925 in Passover, MO the son of James Martin and Francis Gertrude (Hedrick) McCulley.
Bob graduated from Corning High School in 1943. He owned and operated Emporia Auto Machine Shop and then owned and operated Wetmore Grocery Store. He later worked as a parts and service manager for Robert’s Ford and as a car salesman for Rex Barnes Motors, both in Holton. In later years he owned and operated Bob’s Auto Sales in Wetmore and Yesterday’s Antiques in Holton.
Bob was a member of the Christian Church, Charter Member of Wetmore Lions Club, past Boy Scout Master Troop #157 and a former member of the Eagles Club.
He married Dona Marie Wittenbach on July 18, 1948 in Hiawatha, she survives of the home. Other survivors include 2 sons, Robert D. McCulley, Jr. of Holton, KS and Rodney A. McCulley of Fort Worth, TX; 2 daughters, Rebecca J. Eisenbarth (Chuck) of Holton, KS and RoxAnna J. Jones (Casey) of Aurora, CO; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Jimmie Spaulding and Tressie Shaffer; a brother, Gerald M. McCulley and a grandson, Brian Eisenbarth in 1982.
Family will greet friends from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2015 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Private family burial will be in the Wetmore Cemetery.
