 Shirley M. Hosford, 89, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014 at the Tri-County Manor in Horton, Kansas. She was born on May 6, 1925 in Horton, Kansas the daughter of Herbert and Winifred Kipp Campbell. Shirley worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a teletype prior to going to work for the Horton High School where she worked as the secretary and board clerk retiring in 1988, after thirty seven years of service. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Evelyn Mercer Circle which became the Wesley Service Circle and the Alumni Association where she served in all the different offices. Shirley was an avid bowler with the Legionetts and active with community events. In January of 1945 she married Eugene Hosfeld in Horton, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 18, 1980. Survivors include a son, Deril (Caroline) Hosford of Wichita, Kansas; daughter, Nina Jo "Jodi" Picard of San Jose, California; two brothers, Dale Campbell of Sabetha, Kansas and Don Campbell of Falls City, Nebraska; sister, Janet Myers of Wichita, Kansas; sister-in-law, Phyllis Campbell of Holton, Kansas; granddaughter, Sara (Tom) Perkins of Wichita, Kansas; two great grandchildren, Hannah and Clayton Perkins. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Keith Campbell. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Horton, Kansas. The family will greet friends on Monday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. Burial will be at the Horton Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 A.M. on Monday at the mortuary. Memorials may be sent to the Eugene and Shirley Hosford scholarship fund and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
