(KLZA)-- A pedestrian died early Monday morning following a two-car wreck on Interstate-29 about five miles south of Rock Port, Missouri.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 27-year-old Jason Newman of Council Bluffs, Iowa was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The Patrol reports a northbound Hyundai Santa Fe driven by 54-year-old Moo Stranghoener of Omaha ran into the back of a Ford Focus which was stopped in the northbound driving lane. The Hyundai also struck Newman.
The driver of the Focus, 29-year-old Lincoln resident Donna Wilson, was transported by helicopter to Mosiac Life Care in St. Joseph with serious injuries.
Stranghoener was transported to the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn with what were described as minor injuries. Two passengers in his vehicle, both from Omaha, were also transported to the hospital with moderate injuries and then later transferred to Creighton University Hospital in Omaha.
There was no indication in the report as to why Wilson was stopped on the highway or about Newman, the pedestrian.
The investigation into the crash continues.
