Mound City School Board Reorganizes

(KLZA)--  Justin Courtney was sworn in as a new member of the Mound City Board of Education during the April Board meeting. The Board reorganized for the year with Jeff Holstine elected Board President, Brian Tubbs – Vice President, Courtney was elected Treasurer and Deborah Loucks was elected Secretary to the Board. 

The Board approved a 2.76 percent salary increase for all Mound City School staff members beginning with the 2015-16 school year.  That will add $600 to the base salary.  Superintendent Ken Eaton said the increase will bump the starting pay for a new teacher in the district to $31,100.

The annual Facilities / Safety 9-year plan was discussed. This plan is available to those interested in the school office.

Discussion was also held concerning the 275 / PVC conference merger which has been finalized. The merger will mean there will be 14 schools in the 275 Conference with 9 of them playing football.  There will be 15 football teams in the league with Southwest Livingston included in football only.  Representatives from all of the schools involved recently me to work on formulating committees and bylaws. 

Eaton also provided an update on the Mound City School building project.  The overall construction manager contract is being finalized by attorneys and actual construction will hopefully begin soon.  

A few coaching changes for the 2015-16 school year have been finalized at Mound City.  Lee McFadden will serves as varsity boys basketball coach with Jason Tenney as an assistant basketball coach. McFadden will also be the Junior High football coach.  Betsy McQueen, a teacher at Craig will be the Junior High Cheerleading sponsor and Jan Seitz will be in charge of the Middle School play.
