(KTNC)--Flood warnings continue for areas along the Missouri River. In fact, the forecast has been increased from minor to moderate levels of flooding.
The river stage early Wednesday morning at Brownville was at 33.4 feet, just above the 33-foot flood stage. The forecast calls for the river to rise over 38-feet before falling Friday morning.
At Rulo, where the flood stage is 17 feet, the stage at 4:30 Wednesday morning was at 16.7 feet. The river at Rulo is forecast to rise to near 21-feet by Friday morning before beginning to recede. At that level, the river impacts areas on both the Missouri and Nebraska sides of the river, including sites on the Nebraska side near the Highway 159 Bridge.
A flood warning also continues for the Missouri River at St. Joseph, where the river is forecast to rise above flood stage Thursday morning.
Two crests are expected at St. Joseph, the first near 20.5 feet on Friday evening and the second near 22.2 feet on Tuesday.
Officials say you should not attempt to drive through areas where water covers a roadway, as the water’s depth may be too great for your vehicle to safely pass.
