Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge announces its annual spring workday scheduled for Saturday, April 21, from 9:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M. The refuge workday originated from Federal Lands Day beginning in September 1988.
Squaw Creek Refuge’s workday is now held annually twice a year, one Saturday in the spring and one Saturday in the fall. Volunteers make a great difference by assisting refuge staff to conserve, protect, and enhance fish, wildlife, plants and their habitats. Workday projects on the refuge will include various facilities, grounds, and trail maintenance projects. Are you ready to put “Cabin Fever” behind you? Mark your calendar and attend this volunteer wide public program at Squaw Creek Refuge. Bring a friend or the family and join us for an enthusiastic, spring has sprung, day with the birds and deer at your own Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge. Lunch will be provided by the refuge.
All groups should call Refuge Park Ranger, Charlie Marshall at (660) 442-3187 extension (4) to confirm participation or to obtain further information on the volunteer wide workday. Squaw Creek Refuge is located 5 miles south of Mound City take I-29 to exit 79, then 2 ½ miles west on Highway 159 to the refuge entrance.
