(KLZA) -- The Mound City School Board approved a budget for the next fiscal year when they met Wednesday evening. The total budget is just under $3-million and includes a tax levy of approximately $3.74 per $100 of assessed valuation. The school district will also receive just under $600,000 through the state foundation formula.
Board members also set the tuition rate at $3,500 per year. The school enrollment is one student less than last school year at 277 students in Kindergarten through high school.
The Board also approved hiring Scott Stevens of Chillicothe, Missouri as the school auditor. The cost for the first year is $5,000 with a $200 increase in each of the next two years.
Board members also voted to change the date of the September Board meeting to September 25th due to a schedule conflict.
Superintendent Ken Eaton said Elementary Principal Jan Seitz updated the Board members on three $5,000 grants the district has been awarded. One grant will go to the Elementary School, one to Middle School and one to the High School. The money will be used for teacher training to help teachers with their curriculum.
Eaton also reported Mound City students faired pretty well on the statewide assessment tests. He said the areas where improvements are needed have been noted.
The federal Free and Reduced Lunch policy was approved by Board members.
