(KLZA) The Auburn School Board approved the hiring of Scott Anderson to be the Assistant Principal /Athletic Director for the Auburn School District with the start of the 2013-14 school year. Anderson comes from Raymond Central where he was the Athletic Director.
Anderson will take over for Kevin Walker who will be moving to full-time teaching duties in the district next year.
Resignations from Middle School / High School P.E. teacher Alyssa Berg and Middle School / High School English teacher Karen Retzlaff were accepted.
The hiring of Samantha Schmidt and Molly Scradus to teach Middle School / High School English positions was approved along with the hire of Tony Janssen as a secondary math teacher.
In other business the Board granted permission to Superintendent Kevin Reiman to change policies so they are gender – neutral. A new policy regarding service dogs was also discussed. Superintendent Reiman provided information on the new policy. ( play audio :19 seconds )
During the comments portion of the meeting a group of citizens discussed the idea of adding a performing arts center to the Auburn High School / Middle School building. ( play audio :26 seconds )
