The Scottie softball squad went a perfect 4-0 last week in Region VI action at Scottie Park. On Friday, Highland beat Brown Mackie College by scores of 9-1 and 6-0. Zuzana Kudernatschova (Czech Republic) and Lauren Massey (Lawrence) picked up the victories on the mound. The Scottie hitters pounded out 19 hits in their dominating performance over the Lions. Leading the offense for Highland was Baylee Dillon (Grapevine, TX) with five RBI’s on the day.
On Saturday, Highland completed the perfect weekend by beating Cloud County by the scores 3-0 and 13-6. Kudernatschova was too much for the T-Birds in game one, as Cloud County managed only two hits and struck out 12 times. Scotties Kayla Gritt (Arlington, TX) and Jessie Troupe (McLouth) were both 2-3 at the plate. In game two, the Scotties found themselves down 4-0 in the second inning. The slow start proved to not be too much for Highland to overcome. Throughout the next three innings of play, they scored eleven unanswered runs to squash any thought Cloud County had of upsetting the Scotties. Katie Slibowski (Lathrop, MO) picked up the win in the circle. Kayla Gritt continued her hot hitting from the first game, picking up three more hits and three more RBI’s. Megan Dortch (Kearney, MO) added two hits and scored three runs.
Scottie Park will play host to KCK and Neosho County on March 26 and 27 as the Scotties look to improve on their 22-8 record.
