A Seneca city employee will be allowed to move outside the city limits.
Following discussion, the Seneca City Council voted 4-2 Wednesday evening to approved an exemption from the residency requirements for City Recreation Director David Hutfles.
Hutfles requested the exemption so he can move to Baileyville.
Council members said they were giving Hutfles permission to move because he’s not emergency personnel.
Council members Steve Bennett and Bob Claas cast the no votes. They said they felt a more specific reason should have been given in granting permission for a city employee to move outside the city limits.
Following a hearing drawing no public comment, the council adopted a resolution declaring a house located at 203 South 7th Street unsafe and ordering that it be demolished.
The costs will be assessed against the property.
