Peru State College has announced that Athletic Director Steve Schneider will take on a dual role by also serving as head football coach. Former Head Football Coach Terry Clark has been appointed interim defensive coordinator.
Michaela Willis, Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs says the change in leadership presents a great opportunity for Peru State football. She noted Coach Clark’s hard work to build a solid foundation for the program. She said Schneider’s vast experience as a coach and administrator will serve him well in leading the Bobcat football program to the next level of competition while remaining focused on student athlete success both on and off the field.
Schneider says he is looking forward to propelling the program to a position of prominence in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
Schneider came to Peru State in 22009 from Midland Lutheran College in Fremont. Schneider served as director of athletics from 1992-2007. He is an experienced football coach, having served as head coach, defensive coordinator, position coach, strength and conditioning specialist and as a recruiter.
Terry Clark has served the past eight seasons as the head coach at Peru State. The Auburn native was a member of the 1990 NAIA National Championship Team at Peru State.
