Axtell vs. Wetmore (Class 1A-Division II Semifinal):

"Player to Bank On:" Dana Kramer (Wetmore) 8 points (all in 2nd Quarter)

It was the Wetmore Cardinals in control of the game from the get go, as they faced off against the Axtell Eagles in the first semifinal matchup in the Class 1A-Division II Frankfort sub-state. It was only 12-2 at the end of the first quarter, but Wetmore would pour on the points in the second quarter outscoring Axtell 20-5 in the second period to take a 32-7 lead at the half. Axtell continued to struggle from the field in the second half has they were outscored 27-2 in the second half.

It was a struggle from the horn for Axtell, seeing pressure defense from Wetmore which forced turnovers and also just seeing plenty of shoots lip in and out of the cylinder. For the Cardinals they saw eight different players score in the game and really spread out the points throughout the team. Seniors, Nichole Boden and Kelsey Henry lead the way as they both netted 10 points in the victory. While three other Wetmore players tallied eight points each in the game; Dana Kramer, Alyana Noe and Jordan Evans. Sophomore, Kramer's eight points all came in the second quarter when Wetmore really took full control of the game, after having an 20-5 second quarter as a team.

With the win Wetmore moves on to the Class 1A-Division II Frankfort sub-state championship game where they would move on to play the winner of the second semifinal which would be the B&B Falcons. Axtell finishes their season 3-17 with the loss, winning two more games this season than the previous.

Frankfort vs. B&B (Class 1A-Division II Semifinal)

The second semifinal looked like almost a minor image of the first with the B&B Falcons taking a double figure lead at the end of the first quarter 17-5 over the Frankfort Wildcats. Frankfort would go on to only score single digits in the remaining quarters as well, not really being able to muster a big enough run to fully get back into the game. At the half B&B lead it 28-13 and then in the fourth quarter the Falcons used a 24-9 performance in the stanza to fully put the game away and make no doubt.

Seven different Falcons tallied points in the game with none of them finishing below four points on the evening. Three of the seven B&B players finished the game in double figures with senior, Caitlin Deters leading the way with 14 points; 10 of which she scored in the fourth quarter. For the B&B Falcons they put themselves in the Class 1A-Division II Frankfort sub-state championship game, were they will take on the Wetmore Cardinals chance to make it to the state tournament, next week in Hays, Kansas.
