Atchison County has a new interim EMS Director.
In their regular meeting Monday County Commissioners unanimously hired current county paramedic J.D. Thompson to serve as director.
This was one of the roles held by departed Emergency Preparedness Director Lori Chew, who finished up with the county Friday.
Thompson met with commissioners for 45 minutes discussing scenarios over the next several months within EMS services.
During the meeting, County Commissioner Jeff Schuele asked Thompson what the service can do to get by until the end of the year.

Thompson has served as a paramedic in the western part of the county for several years.
He will be the primary contact for EMS calls in the short term.
Commissioners also met with Roger Edgar for bond re-finance discussion.
