Peru State Theatre Company Receives Honors

Peru State College’s (PSC) Peru Theatre Company recently received several honors at the week-long Region V Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) in Lincoln.

Approximately 3,000 students from 77 colleges and universities in Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Kansas, North Dakota and South Dakota participated in the festival, the vast majority of who are theatre majors at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Tessa Way, a senior art, graphic design and marketing major from Rulo, won second place in the Publicity competition for her work on Marat/Sade, the second year she has won in that category.

Nicholas Baird, a junior liberal arts major from Tecumseh; Grace Cole, a sophomore biological science and English major from Scribner; and Chloe Langford, a freshman early childhood education major from Bellevue; were cast in the Faculty Directing Showcase out of more than 120 students who auditioned.

Other Peru State honors included, the Spirit Award for outstanding school spirit.

Certificate of Merit for Ensemble Acting, won by the cast of Marat/Sade and PSC Director of Theatre and Instructor of Communication Arts Joshua Young.

Certificate of Merit for Dialect Work, won by Young and the cast of The Seafarer.
