A 36 year old Atchison man will have another year in Atchison County jail on amended charges.
Paul Blakley pled guilty to the misdemeanor count of interference with a law enforcement officer Monday in Atchison County Court.
This was part of a plea deal that originally charged him with aggravated escape.
Blakley was already in jail serving part of his fourth DUI conviction when he was spotted by Atchison County Jail Captain Travis Wright going toward Bramlen Park to meet his wife instead of reporting back to jail as part of his work release on September 24th.
The year sentence is on top the seven months remaining on the DUI charge.
Last week, his attorney, J. David Ferris unsuccessfully tried to get a diversion on Blakley’s DUI sentence.
Ferris wanted to send him to Heartland men’s recovery center, a fully functional dairy farm located in between Newark and Covell in northeast Missouri.
