Ozawkie resident and building contractor Mel Armstrong was recently recognized for his support of Extension and the Meadowlark Extension District at the District’s May Governing Body in Ozawkie. Mel and his work crew completed the renovations of the District’s new Oskaloosa Office allowing the office in a timely and professional manner allowing the Oskaloosa Office to move to their new location as scheduled on October 1, 2018. Mel and his wife Deanne have lived in the Ozawkie community for the past 12 years they have four grown children Nick, Nate, Niles and Alie. The Armstrong’s are very active in the Ozawkie community with Mel serving on the City Council and he and Deanne were early supporters of the Ozawkie PRIDE association. Their hobbies include kayaking, motorcycling, camping and outdoors adventure.
Presenting the award to Armstrong were District Governing Body members Kim Swearngin Lawrence, Julie Newman, Oskaloosa and District Governing Body Chairperson Mike McNary, Meriden.
