KSU-KSFGC Winter Forage Conference to be Held December 11, 2018 in Emporia

The Kansas Forage and Grassland Council (KSFGC) and Kansas State University will hold its Winter Forage Conference and KSFGC Annual Meeting on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, in the Anderson Building on the Lyon County Fairgrounds, Emporia, Kansas. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and the conference kicks off at 9:30 a.m.

The conference will feature KC Olson, KSU Range and Beef Cattle Nutrition Specialist, discussing Sericea control, and new in 2018, there will be a special workshop, “Making Pasture, Rangeland and Forage Insurance Work for You!” sponsored by the Silveus Insurance Group. As always, several other topics on the mind of range managers and forage producers will be addressed, including emergency forages, and adaptive grazing and soil health.

Conference Registration is free to 2019 Kansas Forage and Grassland Council members. For non-members and those that have not yet renewed for 2019, the cost is $45, which includes both KSFGC and AFGC membership, along with subscriptions to both Progressive Forage Grower and Hay & Forage Magazines. The Kansas Forage and Grassland Council serves as an umbrella organization providing education and programs to strengthen the forage industry in Kansas. Member dues support educational meetings, such as this conference, educational brochures such as the KSU Alfalfa Growth and Development Poster, the Kansas FFA Forage Proficiency Award, the State Fair Market Alfalfa Show and assist with funding for the KSU Forage Judging Team.
