NCR-SARE Farmer Rancher Grant Call for Proposals Open

The North Central Region SARE Farmer Rancher Grant program is now open. Produce Safety Trainings
GAPs Food Safety Plan Workshop- this workshop is for people that are interested in getting GAP certified (required by some buyers). After this workshop, you will have templates for all the records and documentation needed for a food safety plan for GAP certification that you can customize to your operation either at the workshop itself or after the workshop.

FSMA Produce Safety Rule Grower Training- The full 8 hour training that is required by the FSMA produce safety rule (regulatory requirement). There are some exemptions to which growers are required to be in compliance with FSMA, but this training would be beneficial to anyone interested in learning more about produce safety. Everyone in attendance for all 7 modules will receive a certificate from AFDO.  The content is the same at both locations.

KDA Offers Reimbursement to Specialty Crop Growers
The Kansas Department of Agriculture has funds available for reimbursement to Kansas specialty crop growers who attend the Great Lakes Expo held in Grand Rapids, Michigan, from December 4-6, 2018.
 
KDA will reimburse Kansas specialty crop growers up to $100 for conference registration. A flat-fee conference travel stipend of $750 is also offered. Both awards are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline for application is October 30, 2018. Applicants who apply for the travel stipend and registration fee reimbursement will be required to attend the conference and to complete surveys before, immediately after and six months post-conference prior to payment being issued.

The Kansas Rural Center's annual Farm & Food Conference will feature 12 educational workshops each day providing practical information for diversifying and managing farm or ranch enterprises,  support for beginning and the next generation of farmers,  building a new food and farm economy, and communicating for stronger on-farm, community, and public policy decisions.
