Applications are now being accepted for the 2017 Kansas Academy for Victim Assistance (KAVA).
KAVA will be offered twice this year with the first session taking place July 24-28 and the second session Sept. 25-29. Both academies will be held at the Hotel at Old Town Conference Center in Wichita. Applications are available at http://grants.ks.gov/kava and are due no later than April 30, 2017.
KAVA is a comprehensive, knowledge and skill-based entry-level victim assistance academy focused on a victim-centered and trauma-informed response to victims. This is an interactive academy taught by Kansas experts in the field of victim services.
This is the fourth year for the KAVA program which is designed for criminal justice and victim service professionals, including those who work in social services, mental health, law enforcement, health care, corrections and other allied positions. The program is approved by the Office for Victims of Crime, U.S. Department of Justice.
