(KLZA)--The Nebraska State Fire Marshal confirms there are multiple fire fatalities at a rural Nehawka, Nebraska home in Cass County. At the time of the release Thursday afternoon, officials were unable to confirm a specific number of victims.
Just past 12 a.m. Thursday the Weeping Water Fire Department was dispatched to 10014 McKelvie Road in rural Nehawka for a structure fire with parties still inside the residence. A neighbor first reported the fire.
Fire departments from Weeping Water, Manley and Avoca responded along wth the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and Cass County EMS to find a two -story residence fully engulfed in fire. Other fire departments responded to the call were from Nehawka, Murray, Union, Louisville and Plattsmouth.
The onsite investigation is continuing. Autopsies will be performed for proper identification as recoveries are made.
